My feet rooted to the floor as I took in the unsettling tableau before me.

A small Asian girl stood cornered.

Barely five feet tall.

Tears ruined her makeup.

Her entire body shook.

I’d seen her around - always quiet, always hiding behind textbooks.

Her usually perfect braid now fell apart, strands sticking to her wet cheeks.

Two figures stood between us.

Alpha Wade Lawson towered over her.

My stomach twisted at the sight.

He remained expressionless as usual.

Yet something moved behind those cold eyes.

Annoyance? Shame?

Whatever it was, it broke his typical stone mask.

The air grew thick with tension, heavy and suffocating.
