Chapter 188. The Hallucination

Olive shifted in her bedroll and sighed softly as she felt a familiar weight towering over her form.

“Aren't you supposed to be keeping watch?” she asked in her sleepy voice as Wayne's form lay on her, supporting himself up with his elbows.

“Not when you're lying down here like a goddess by a poolside,” he whispered and kissed her nape. She chuckled and opened her eyes.

“I'm a goddess by a fireside,” she replied and placed her arms over his shoulders.

“Same difference, my hot goddess of fire,” he crooned into her neck and kissed her warmly. Olive giggled and tried to push him off.

“Go back to your watch. I'll take over from you in an hour so you can rest too. Then Lutz would take over.”

“Nothing's going to happen in these mountains. It's safe. Besides, I think I can use a minute feeling my mate again. I just went through an ordeal that makes me want to feel the real you,” Wayne explained.

“Come on, you fainted just a few hours. Not like you died.”<
