“How in the world are we going to cross this?” Koushi asked calmly, looking across the sea of sand.

“Hopefully, these are regular vipers,” Wayne commented, furrowing his brow as he peered across the desert. One particular viper hissed loudly, striking at something as it darted from one spot in the sand to another. It disappeared beneath the surface within seconds, and both the spot it left and the one it entered looked completely undisturbed.

“With that speed, I doubt they’re regular vipers,” Olive responded.

“Why do you want to know if they’re regular or not?” Lutz inquired.

“Because my wolves are immune to venom,” Wayne answered.

“Beautiful. I suppose that’s why you’re on this journey with us—to show the dragon you are immune to venom.”
