Chapter 189. The Hallucination

Olive shifted in her bedroll and sighed softly as she felt a familiar weight hovering over her.

“Aren’t you supposed to be keeping watch?” she asked in a sleepy voice as Wayne lay on top of her, supporting himself with his elbows.

“Not when you’re lying down here like a goddess by a poolside,” he whispered, kissing her nape.

She chuckled and opened her eyes. “I’m a goddess by a fireside,” she replied, placing her arms over his shoulders.

“Same difference, my hot goddess of fire,” he crooned against her neck and kissed her warmly. Olive giggled and tried to push him off.

“Go back to your watch. I’ll take over for you in an hour so you can rest, too. Then Lutz can take over.”

“Nothing’s going to happen in these mountains. It’s safe. Besides, I think I could use a minute
