Chapter 39. Woman in Red
“Is there a reason you keep spacing out? I thought you were in a good mood earlier… before we left. What happened?” Damon eyed his mate as they walked through the huge mall, passing classy stores Sarah thought would’ve never existed within human territory. They had drove here and while Damon made sure the mall and the surrounding area was strictly devoid of any and every one, she had seen quite a few faces on the streets… people who she hoped were human just like her.
In the middle of what was mostly wasteland, there were places like this one that still stood tall and almost untouched. It was a relief to see, however… she wasn’t as excited, at least not anymore.
“Are you even listening? I asked you a question. What happened?”
Sarah shook her head without a word and Damon sucked in a breath, the spot just above his eye twitching in annoyance. He reminded himself that he had to be patient.
