Chapter 3
First Day Out
It’s cold, so cold that I’m shivering. I wrap my hands over my naked body taking shelter under a tree, horrified at my nakedness like it was someone else’s body. I have never been in such a sensitive situation, naked in an unknown forest this late at night.
This impels me to stop wailing once I discover how far I have gone. I quickly peep around the place, and I heed nothing familiar. This gets me seriously fuse, especially as I don’t seem to remember the road out.
I dwell shivering and glued under the tree, wishing uncle Edmonton would find me. Perhaps he might bring some clothes along.
“Aaawwwwooo...”
I hear some groans approaching.
“Oh my God, Uncle!”.
I guess. I felt relief and worry at the same time.
“He’s gonna see me naked.”
This gets me nervous. I attempt to shift back into my wolf before he finds me. Yet, all my attempts are in vain.
Aaawwwooo.
The groan persists towards my direction like he can sense me.
I doubt if showing up is the best solution.
The wolf, which I thought was my uncle, sped in front of me like a menace groaning louder and louder with his head up and his large irregular fangs out coated with spit. The hurricane from his maw smacks my trembling body making my heart nudges off my chest. This renders me weak. I remain glued to the tree.
He stops the “aawwoo...” and looks me straight into my eyes with his cold green eyes depicting so much rage. His saliva dripping down his fangs, all these freaks, makes me wanna run very far away.
“Adams...”
I whisper in a faded low frightful tone, hoping he is the one. At least he certainly can’t kill me before our marriage. Before, I made him a king and an Alpha. Though at this moment, I couldn’t decipher who it was.
Before I can notice, two other wolves have added, and they are surrounding me.
This is when I heed that neither Adams nor Edmonton followed me. It hurts.
Now, I’m left alone to face my destiny.
They gradually approach me with their groan of appetite.
In my mind, I sketch them slashing every single piece of my body. This thought scared me that I plugged my head in between my knees not to witness it.
One walks further than the two others and whacks me hard with his claws cutting into my knee. I vulnerable fall by the side, sobbing in pain, begging.
“Please, please stop!”
I cover my head with the ground waiting on them to plunge into me.
“Aaawwwooo...”
I heed as another wolf adds. While my face is still buried in the ground, awaiting my end.
I heed wail like they are in combat amongst themselves. This hits my curiosity. I slightly elevate my head to peep.
I notice the fourth wolf who added fighting the three others with so much bravery. I want to get up and run away while they are still battling, but the fierce pain in my knee makes movement not an option with blood oozing. I try to stop it with my hands.
The other wolves run away. While this one approaches me, I interweave myself in fear.
He shifts back into his human form.
I recognise him.
“Adams!” I whisper, very relieved and astonished by his naked sexy body, which leaves me speechless. My first time seeing a man nude. I don’t understand why, and I don’t know what, but his body seems to attract mine like a magnate. I battle with myself not to move closer to him.
“This place is very dangerous at night, little girl!”
He walks closer and bends down at me.
I’m naked and timid, but I feel secure, like at some point, I forgot that I was nude.
“Let me take you back home.”
He notices my fixed stare on his private as he walks closer to reassure me. This makes him shift back into his wolf and then carries me home.
Maryline rushes to us with a piece of cloth as soon as she sees me naked and wounded. She can best understand how I feel right now. She knows that I’ve never stepped out of this fortress to talk less of shifting to my wolf and revealing my unclad self to the world.
This is a trance in my life, and it doesn’t leave me unaffected...
While uncle Edmonton remains speechless as he sees me, I’m not happy with him either. I give him a cold glance as I’ve been transferred to my room.
Adams is a nice person, he saved me, and I’m grateful, yet, I don’t think he could have done otherwise. I’m his alley to the throne, so he ought to guide me.
After the throne, what next? What will I become to him? This thought renders me squeamish.
Despite his kind gesture, I still don’t want to marry him. I need a soul mate, someone who will love me for what I am, not for what I can make him become. I don’t want any random mate. I want a mate in my age range so we will best understand ourselves.
Not Adams! A man I fear?
Oh my God, how will I explain this to my uncle and the clan? When they all despise me, though some have never seen me, they still despise me. A few did see me when I was very much younger and they know the repugnance my father had towards me. So they barely consider me as well.
Maryline gets into my room with a bowl of hot soup. Her unusual hot soup!... While the other maid cleans my wound and later leaves.
“My heart nudged off my heart when I saw you lying denuded. Oh my God!... I can’t imagine how you felt.”
She cries as she gets closer with the bowl of food in her hands.
“I’m glad he brought you home safely! Outside is dangerous, my girl, crammed with ravenous fearless wolves!” She sits by me with the bowl in her hands. I remain stagnant, lying in bed.
I’m mad at her. She knew they were conspiring to give me in marriage to a total stranger, but she did nothing about it. She didn’t even inform me. I always thought that she was on my side, but she proved me wrong today, but here she is pretending to care.
“Eve, drink this!” She lifts the spoon filled with soup to my mouth.
I fling my stare away!
While she insists with the spoon lifted to my mouth.
“Eve Elite, you need to regain some energy!” he yells. I keep flinching.
“I know this is all new to you. I can’t even imagine how terrified you’re, but you need to eat!” She pleads.
“As if you care!” I whisper in a very low tone, though she hears.
This makes her give up. She walks out of my room frowning with her tray in her hands, mad at what I said! I’m damn angry to notice that what I said actually pissed her off.
“Did she eat?” uncle asks as he sees Maryline stepping out of my room with her dismal glance.
“No!” She helplessly nods.
“I will talk to her.” Uncle Edmonton bends his head in dismay. He tries to walk to my room, but Adams stops him and immediately walks into my room.
“I want to be alone, Uncle, and I’m not hungry!” I yell as I heed some footsteps entering my room. I’m sure it’s uncle Edmonton because Maryline reports everything to him.
“Why don’t you want to eat, little girl?” his huge strange voice hit my curiosity. I immediately turn my face in his direction in shock. He’s the last person I expected. This renders me speechless and stunned at his intimidating stare.
He moves closer to me with his emotionless glance.
“You have to eat to regain some energy, to be strong and healthy for our wedding, which is in a few weeks!” He says with lots of confidence as if there is no other way around it for me. This guy’s aura gives me the chills.
“I don’t want to marry you!” words honestly escape my mouth.
He remains speechless as if my words ache him. This makes me feel stupid and sorry for him at the same time, and I don’t understand why?!
“Don’t you want to be the greatest Luna of all times? With people looking up to you with so much fear and admiration?” he sends his hands forward as he speaks. I close my eyes in fear once I notice his hands approaching, assuming that he wants to hurt me.
He delicately shifts my hair, shading my eyes by my ear side, slowly caressing my face as he takes off his hand. I immediately open my eyes once I no longer feel his touch, though a little bit disappointed that he could do it a little longer.
The sensation generated by his touch puzzles me, rendering me vulnerable as I’ve never been before.
“I was informed about the condition of your birth and how bad your father treated you. Fear not! I will never treat you the same way he did. Rather, our union will make you/us stronger than we have ever been before, you will rule by my side and I will never render you a bystander in our reign” After that said, he gets up and walks out
While I remained stupefied by his words, he spoke with so much passion that I nearly fell for it. At first, I got angry at the mention of my father’s name, but later on, I loved what he said, that our union would make me the greatest Luna of all times and that we will rule together. Wow, wow, wow... I don’t think my father had ever thought I would be this great or fit for the role. He always looked at me with so much hostility, mostly as a failure.
I twirl myself in bed.
All Adams said leaves me thoughtful.
A few minutes later, Adams barged back into my room with a tray filled with fruits and a different meal from what Maryline had brought earlier.
He drops the tray on a slab. He walks to me and lifts me up. He makes me sit on the bed like a newborn baby who can’t stand on her own. He goes and takes the tray and sits next to me. He begins to feed me. I’m so shy that I barely open my mouth.
Instead, I snatch the other spoon in the tray.
“Let’s eat together!”
I smile at him.
He smiles back like he is in love with my smile.
“Wow, delicious!”
I have never eaten this soup before. It tastes nice. I love it. Something different for once.
“Maryline finally changed her soup recipe!”
I wonder aloud.
“Not Maryline! It’s my special recipe. I made it specifically for you. It will make you gain energy!”
He utters with his emotionless glance fixed on me. He drops his spoon after a taste. While I keep eating and he watches me like a watch night.
“It’s delicious!” I add.
“I’m happy you love it!”
Once I’m done eating, he kisses my forehead. This guy is unbelievable; he acts as if he has known me before.
“I have to leave!”
With that, he stands up in a slow motion. I am in a world of trance, everything seems so slow as his hands apply pressure on the bed, showing his muscles merge like gigantic waves and move majestically out of the room.
Not long,
“Maryline, send a maid to clean Eve’s room!”
He orders with his terrifying glance, which doesn’t leave Maryline indifferent as she keeps shivering where she stands.
“Did she eat, Sir?”
Maryline asks with her quivering voice.
“Of course!”
He replies as he turns to leave. Then he stops.
“Maryline, take that little young girl out. Let her discover people and places. We are in the 20th century, for crying out loud!” Keeping her locked up won’t help her in the future.
He instructs Maryline with his green eyes and fangs out. This scares her more.
“Okay, sir!”
She nodes as she keeps quivering.
With that, he finally leaves.
