I woke up to the beeping of the EKG beside me. The sunlight was on my face but it was not uncomfortable, it was warm and it felt good against my skin. I felt a small ache in my head but that was all there was.

My eyes looked around, the room was empty except from the necessary things you can find in a hospital room. I adjusted my position so I could be leaning on the headboard of the bed. The minute I settled, the door opened and Mikel walked in with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

He had a look in his eyes, not surprise not, happiness not even remorse but it was something. He brought the flowers to the bed and handed them to me, the smile on his face made him look weird but I ignored it and took the bouquet from him.
