Raina’s POV

"This way." Elder Miriam beckoned us and guided Devin inside the enchanted circle of the ritual temple floor, which was just below the white marble stone altar.

Gently, his arms lowered and positioned me to lay on my back in the center of the pack insignia. It was already prepped and thus glowed rose beige once Devin exited the circle. The incense of sweet herbs from the altar filled my smelling senses as Miriam lit all nine blue candles.

It was unexpected that Elder Victor was present while the other four elders were not. He might have shown up to support his grandson, Valen. He stroked his Ceasar-cut Mallen streak, thinned his lips into a smile, and turned his forest green eyes to stare at his son, who whispered something to him.

Mom, Dad, Luna Queen Sianna, Alpha King Vance, Marlena, the pack witch, Devin, and Valen surrounded me at the edge of the circle. All peered down on me with optimism.
