Joe caught up with Tasha in the alley behind the diner. She was fast, but she really had no idea where she was going. Joe reached out and grabbed her arm.

“Tasha, why are you so scared?”

“My guardians. They are very powerful. I’m sure they will have law enforcement looking for me.”

Joe dropped her hand.

“I knew it! I knew it! You are too good to be true.” He rubbed his fingers against the temples of his forehead. “You're an escape criminal.” He slapped his forehead. “Of course, it all makes sense now. Why you could only chat with me at a set time! Why I could never see you!!”

Tasha took his hand gently. “Joe, that is not it. I’m not a criminal.”
