Chapter 13

Flo’s Diner had a counter with twenty swivel seats, each facing an open window looking directly into the kitchen and grill area. The front of the diner and the two side walls were lined with big picture windows. Where there wasn’t a window, there was an almost glowing yellow wall panel. The panel space was flush with posters of the Beatles, Elvis, the Beach Boys, the Carpenters, and some more people Tasha had never heard of. An orange sign on the door read: Diner.

Tasha grinned. This place was like a piece from one of Natasha’s or Mr. Farr’s history books.

Melvin manned the grill. He was wearing a white stained t-shirt and chef's hat. He looked like a man who enjoyed his own cooking. He waved at Joe and Tasha when they walked in.

“Hey, Joe, nice to see you eat here on your day off!” Melvin said with a big toothy grin.
