Chapter 35. A Glance
Penelope no longer had class, so she lounged on a school bench. She was expecting Lucas to pick her up from school and take her to work.
She thought of Lucas. She had no idea what had happened to the man last night.
Lucas told Penelope last night that he would text the woman when he came home, but the woman never received any texts from Lucas.
In Penelope's mind, he may have slept off due to exhaustion. But after a whole night, Lucas still hadn't contacted Penelope the following day. Penelope was the first to text and call Lucas several times, but Lucas didn't answer any of those calls.
In the afternoon, Lucas had already responded to Penelope's text messages, apologizing for not texting her and explaining that he had already gone home.
Penelope asked what had happened to her partner and if he had just come home in the afternoon, but Lucas's answer was far from the question. Lucas said that he would charge first and pick Penelop
