Chapter 273

The engine came to life with a roar, and swiftly they took off through the evening streets. As they drove on, Dr. Richard’s gaze drifted outside the window to trace dark outlines of buildings across the skyline.

His head was filled with rage but forced himself into a calm smile that relaxed his face into serenity. He did not require any inquiries regarding his mood.

Shadow was aware of his tension yet maintained silence as he stared briefly; it’s best not to intrude upon Dr. Richard’s thoughts. The car drove towards Marino’s house where the mansion rose tall before them making Dr Richard clench jaws more annoyed still though he maintained composure.

Mixed emotions swirled within him misery and joy at once were like pens in some unending pinball game inside his mind, while his heart danced at light-symphonies that only angels could hear.

They reached the entrance and Shadow opened for him before gently stepping out himself after taking such long deep breathes
