Dr. Tofu smiled back, his eyes warm. "I know you won't. Welcome to the team, Alex."

Alex could hardly believe his luck. He's begun working in the lab, actually; Dr. Tofu was really affable, trusting, and knew nothing about the bomb that was landing on him.

Ruby leaned back in her chair, letting a sly smile find its way to her face. "I have to say, Nova; you're definitely showing off. Eliminating all the associates working with Dr. Richard, one after the other? Classic."

Nova shrugged; he just couldn't work up the energy. "Had to be done, time was getting too close."

Ruby nodded, her eyes shining. "And now, with his associates out of the way, Dr. Richard is vulnerable. You really have set up the last move for us so well."

Nova raised a brow. "You really think Dr. Richard will fall for it?"

Ruby laughed softly. "Oh, I'm counting on it. Dr. Richard's kindness is his weakness; he won't suspect a thing. By the time he does, it'll be too late."
