DAMON’S POV

I was able to calm everyone down yesterday. It took a lot to stay completely calm given the fact that Morgana was lying in bed unresponsive the whole time. It took a lot for me to convince the humans that we would get their people back. Fifty humans, all captured and I couldn’t do anything.

I feel incompetent. I have never felt so weak before. All my life, I have thought myself invincible. I thought I was the strongest. It was only yesterday that the vampires were in hiding from us, scared to come out and now, now they’re being led by somebody more powerful than me.

I wanted to go after them yesterday. I really wanted to and it took everything in me to not rally up my men and follow them into those woods. But I think that’s what they want. They want to lure us out and we can’t just follow them blindly because they might have so many traps set for us on the way. One wrong move and we might be ambushed.
