Lucas tried to take her hand, but Rachel pulled away.
“Sorry, Lucas. I don’t want to endanger myself or Sky. Your condition is unstable right now. Until you regain your clarity, we should keep our distance.”
“No, Rachel.”
Lucas suddenly hugged her legs.
“You are my life. I can’t live without you.”
He hit his own chest in frustration. The sound made Rachel glance at him.
“I became like this because I was afraid of losing you. I lost control because I didn’t want you to go with him. I almost went insane!”
Rachel still shook her head and turned away. Her eyes reddened.
“If you had trusted me, you wouldn’t think like that, Lucas. There would be no misunderstandings, and you would have stayed within reason.”
