Chapter 43
Hawa’s POV
I sat down in a small sitting room with a coffee table and a TV broadcasting the news. The office was large with a bay window. My phone kept sending notifications, but I stopped looking and logged off again.
I waited for hours, growing tired. I got up and started pacing. I stopped in front of the bay window to contemplate the view, which was unfortunately spoiled by the shantytowns below. Further out, I could see the sea, and it was soothing. I felt like if I didn’t tell him what I’d come to say, I was going to explode.
Finally, I heard the door open.
“It’s about time,” I said, turning around. He moved forward, staring at me.
“Can you explain what just happened?”
“And can you explain why I’m still being harassed by your wife?”
He paused and considered me. I didn’t know if it was because I’d gone from being formal to informal, or if he wasn’t aware of his wife’s actions. In any case, he considered me for a moment before spea
