Zayate’s POV
I closed the door and stormed towards the secretary’s office, seething with anger. I felt like I was going to explode any minute.
“Where is he now?” I demanded.
“I don’t know, Mrs. Haïdara. The boss hasn’t arrived yet.”
“What do you mean you don’t know? Tell me right now, where is my husband?”
“I’m sorry, I really don’t know.”
“Why are you even here? Aren’t you supposed to know where he is?”
“Yes, but he didn’t show up today. Please, contact him.”
Frustrated, I turned on my heels and got back into my car. I banged on the steering wheel in rage. I wasn’t sure if that idiot had done his job right.
My phone rang, and I grabbed it, hoping it was Ousmane. But no, it was my mother. I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to talk to her, and I didn’t want her to know what was going on. She’d just tell Nadine, and then I’d never hear the end of it. I drove off to my store.
