Ousmane’s POV

I went to the police station and found Hamid in his office.

“Where is he?”

“Hello, he’s in one of the cells.”

“What does he say?”

“I haven’t questioned him yet, but I’m about to.”

“Bring him here instead.”

“No, you can’t be part of this.”

“Ah! Come on, Hamid, we know how things work in this country.”

He sighed. “But you stay still.”

“I’m calm, don’t you see? Perfectly calm.”

“Hmm.”

He called and had the guy brought to his office. The guards escorted him in and then left. I stood up and approached him.

“Tell us why you attacked that woman,” Hamid asked.

“She’s my girlfriend; she wanted to fleece me. That’s why I settled her account; she’s a whore.”

“You have two options: either tell the truth or we’ll send you to the central prison.”

Hamid was too soft. Is that any way to interrogate a criminal?

“It’s my—”
