Ousmane’s POV

As I left my lawyer’s office, my phone vibrated. I decided to call back later when I got to my office. I planned to work from home and stay with Hawa until she fully recovered. I had a long discussion with my lawyer, and the divorce proceedings were underway. This evening, I would inform Zayate of my decision to end our marriage. I couldn’t live like this anymore, fearing for my safety after seeing what she was capable of. She didn’t think for a moment that the thug she hired could have killed Hawa. It was time to move on.

I parked, took the elevator, and soon arrived at my office.

“Good morning, Mr. Haïdara.”

“How are you, Mrs. Diallo?”

“I’m fine, thank you.”

She followed me into my office.

“You mentioned on the phone that you’d be away for a while.”

“Yes, did you set aside the files I asked for?”

“Yes, here they are,” she said, showing me. “You have an appointment tomorrow with the CNAC representatives.”
