Chapter 12. There Was Almost a Caught
Jeremy’s POV
She stopped at the hallway, close to her doorstep, where I was. Her dazed eyes were now fixed on me, steaming mug in her hand, her robe tied loose at the waist. I wanted to say something but nothing came up. Her brows shot up, eyes flicking from me to the door I’d just closed behind me.
My stomach dropped. Fuck.
“Jeremy?” her voice held confusion, maybe suspicion. “What are you doing in Teyana’s room at this hour?”
My pulse banged in my ears. For a moment, my head went blank. I had to say something. There was no way on earth I was implicating the girl. She didn’t deserve this.
“Well, Teyana wasn’t feeling well. I just—uh—wanted to make sure she got home safe.”
Her stare lingered like she was trying to make sense of my excuse. My hands itched to run through my hair, but I shoved them in my pockets instead, trying to look calm when inside I was burning.
