Chapter 124. The Man Behind Us
Teyana’s POV
“You don’t know what you are saying.”
“Car! Stop the car.” I raised a brow, then pulled the waistband of my jeans forward enough for her to see the small knife tucked in my pocket. “I’ve got something to protect us. We’re not getting out. Just stop.”
Her eyes widened at the exposed knife. “Sweetheart, you know you still need skill to use that, right? Like… technique? Aim? Wrist strength? A YouTube tutorial?”
“I will manage,” I muttered, tension in my voice.
“Okay, okay.”
She finally slowed down, her breath coming short as she shifted the gear and parked. We sat still—frozen, like animals pretending to be dead so predators might get confused.
The car behind us slowed. Very slowly. Suspiciously slowly.
Then… it parked behind us too.
My heart actually stood up and walked out of my chest.
“It’s after us,” I whispered, my voice strangled.
“Oh God,” Carol breathed, “Okay, I’m driving now. I am driving…”<
