Maya spent a few more hours at my house and soon it was time to leave. I stood up from the couch and headed to the kid's room. I wanted to check up on them because they had been really quiet.

I slowly opened the door, so I wouldn’t disturb them if they were asleep. But to my surprise, they were wide awake, engulfed in reading their story books.

“Hi,” I whispered as I waved at them.

They responded with a smile. Just as I was about to turn around, Rowan’s voice echoed through the quiet room. “Mama, can I ask you about something?”

I nodded. “Sure, but that’ll be after I see Maya off. I’ll be back.” I said and turned around, closing the door behind me.

“Thank you for coming.” I expressed my gratitude to Maya as I led her out of the house. It was already dark and I was grateful she spent a lot of hours with me.
