Chapter 97. Mild

Maureen's POV

'I hope she gets favored,' Dawn whispered to me as we entered the hall where Martha's case hearing was to be held. 

Everybody in the hall stood up when we entered to revere the Alpha and Luna's presence. 

The elders sat down after the Alpha was seated. The hall was almost full. People were anxious to see what would eventually be Martha's lot. 

Martha was standing to the left of the elders. Her face was as white as a plain white sheet. She looked so scared that my heart went out to her. She looked so lean and unkempt. She had probably been in prison since we left. 

I saw that she kept giving sideways glances at someone so I looked at the place and saw a very handsome young man whose expression mirrored that of Martha. I knew instantly that he was her mate.

'I think that is her mate right there,' I said to Dawn since she was the closest to me. Lucia was sitting beside Dawn on the other side.
