Chapter 99. Pain

I watched Dominus stagger to his feet. He looked so defeated that it hurt to watch. He gradually started making his way out of the field.

'Go with him Lance. We will take care of things here and join you shortly,' dad said to me. 

I could see the sadness in his eyes. The only feeling that came through to me from him was pain. The Alpha was standing over Lucia's father's body looking so torn and sad. 

Dominus had voiced his reservation about Lucia's father joining the fight but I had thought nothing of it. We didn't factor the fact that we could lose any of ours to the fight.

I nodded at dad and followed Dominus. I didn't say anything to him. I only walked with him, I didn't say a word. I didn't even know what to say to him in that condition because my own heart was in turmoil.
