Chapter 105. My Child
Eryn’s POV
The morning comes too soon. The light shines through the window like a thief coming to take Atticus from me. I close my eyes tightly, trying to block out the rays, silently begging for a few more hours with my mate. Atticus is already stirring beside me, and I know our time together is limited. Why did I have to do the noble thing and agree to stay behind? For once in my life, I want to be selfish. I want to put myself first.
Atticus grumbles, flexing his arms around me. His fingers dig into my skin like he is trying to leave a permanent mark of where he has been. Eventually, he lets go. “I have to get ready.”
I nod. It is the only thing I can do. The thick ball in my neck won’t let me speak. When he gets out of bed, I curl into myself, trying to replace his warmth. I hate this.
