Chapter 16. First Day

Eryn’s POV

My hair is falling out of the neat braid I put it in this morning. Blood and sweat are running down my face, and my eye is swelling shut. Alpha Atticus is relentless. He isn’t pulling his punches like Kyle and Zach used to. I have hit the ground more in this one training session than I have in my whole life, but I get up each time. I want to prove that I belong here.

A crowd has gathered to watch me spar with Alpha Atticus. Each time he lands a punch, I can hear everyone hiss. They are all taking bets on how much longer I will last.

My body is tired, but I still try to land a punch when I can. Through my one good eye, I think I see an opening, and I swing my fist in his direction. But I was wrong. Alpha Atticus catches my hand and twists me so my back is pressed against his chest.
