Chapter 17. Birthday

Kyle’s POV

Today is my eighteenth birthday. It is the day all werewolves wait for. It is the day their wolf awakens, and they can find their mate. A week ago, I was so excited for this day to come, but now that it is here, I am filled with dread. My father’s ultimatum is looming over my head.

I stare at my phone, trying to think about the perfect text to send to Eryn. I want her to know how much I miss her, but I also want to tell her what is going on. She deserves to know that if I don’t follow my father’s rules, she won’t be allowed to return to the pack.

“Everything I do, I do for us,” I type into the text field and press send.

I wait impatiently for the three little dots to appear, showing that she is responding, but they don’t.

“Son,” my father’s voice yells through my door. “Are you awake?”
