Chapter 26. Gifts

Kyle’s POV

Zach hangs up his phone and shoves it in his pocket. I have known Zach my whole life and have never seen him this mad.

“She’s not coming home,” he says through gritted teeth. “Apparently, there is a contract between the Alphas, and only they can break it.”

I slam my hands down on my desk, and the wood cracks under the force. “What if she wants to come home?” I ask desperately.

Zach drops down onto the couch in my office. He throws his legs over the side and covers his eyes with his arm. “She doesn’t want to come home, ever.”

If I didn’t know better, I would think that Zach is hiding his face because he is crying. I know him well, and I know how much he loves his sister. The thought of never seeing her ever again is probably killing him.

Just as I expect, Zach wipes tears from his eyes. “We chased her away,” he chokes out. “I should have never let her get tied up with the likes of you.”

His words sting, but I know he is just
