Layla’s POV
I couldn’t stand the sight of him. The mere thought of him breaking his promise consumed me with anger and resentment. How in the world could he even entertain the idea of summoning those two back after everything that has transpired between us?
“Erm… not to interrupt or anything, but we’re standing right here, and we’ll have to leave before things get too lovey-dovey,” Michaela interjected as he walked in, trying to inject some levity into the tense atmosphere.
My eyes rolled involuntarily at Michaela’s exaggerated response. Sometimes, her dramatic flair was just too much to handle.
“Ryan, you really don’t think we were going to—”
“I know exactly what you were planning, and I am eternally grateful that we managed to stop you both just in time,” Ryan cut in, his voice tinged with a mixture of relief and severity. He must have been really uncomfortable then. Well, it wasn’t my problem.
