I put all my effort into suppressing the growing resentment I felt towards Alex.
At this point in my pregnancy, such negativity wouldn't benefit our little one; it was important for me to remain balanced.
The Alpha appeared to be completely different.
The cruel edges of his personality seemed gentler now, as he attempted to get me used to his constant closeness. Throughout the day, he engaged me in a variety of conversations about world politics and climate change, making it increasingly evident how much our opinions diverged.
The midwife had just entered the house, carrying a few bottles of freshly squeezed juice with her. She was a warm and welcoming woman from the island, always reassuring me that everything would go smoothly with my upcoming delivery.
