Zane stood on his patio, gazing off into the distance.

A week had passed since he received the devastating news of Becca and their baby's passing. Now sober, his despair had diminished, allowing him to think clearly. He was certain now; Becca was still alive.

He inhaled deeply a few times, clutching the railing more firmly to stay calm.

The last time they were together, their passion was intense and unrestrained. She had insisted that he wait for her no matter what happened. Just weeks earlier, he had transferred a significant sum to her credit card once again, ensuring she never faced financial difficulties was important to him, especially as she prepared for the arrival of their child and now cared for him after his birth.

Zane suddenly looked up. Even though the card was registered under her name, it was his PayPal account that handled all payments. Each transaction included details of the store's name and country.
