For the umpteenth time, Zane checked the clock.

The hands kept moving forward, the day progressing, but he still hadn't heard anything from Becca. His impatience grew, as did his concern.

He went online to check the arrival times of flights from Canada. The last flight of the day was scheduled to land at ten that evening. He was counting on Becca to call him before she boarded; she knew he was waiting for her.

To distract himself, he called his secretary, Margey, to bring urgent files to his home. Spending a few hours with his mind elsewhere would make the stress building up inside him more bearable.
