Someone had broken into Jake's house and chopped off his fingers.

I remembered telling Rollins about Jake, and he wanted to hurt him. I begged him not to, and he agreed, but I always thought it was strange how quickly he agreed with me. That was only because he didn't see any use in arguing; he had already made up his mind.

Rollins had done this. I had no proof, but I just knew.
