Chapter 92

Cara's POV

We sat on a tree in a comfortable silence.

"Have you ever been scared?" I asked Rollins.

"Never... before you came, the thought of losing you was my only fear."

I thought again of the fact that I would be leaving him soon; there was so much I hadn't done, like Sophie. I didn't want her out of my life; I want to speak to her just one more time.

"Can I ask you for a favor?"

"Anything," Rollins replied.

"I want to go visit my friend, Sophie, soon."

He hesitated. "Send my apologies; I don't think she would appreciate what happened between us in my last visit."

I gasped, "What did you do, Rollins?"

"I kind of scared the hell out of her, trying to get where you went. I needed to find you desperately, and I discovered you stopped here first. She is a good friend, almost willing to give her life to hide the truth. I really am sorry, Cara."
