Cara's POV

Rollins couldn't protect me this time; they were about four Lycans taking their turns to fight him; he was too occupied; I had to do this on my own; Vildmair came at me; I tried dodging, but he was too fast; he lifted his staff and in a blur the weapon landed against my back; he didn't seem to have used as much force; but my whole wolf form flew in the air and landed on the hard ground from the force of the hit.

I struggled back to my feet, but he was close again. He twisted the staff. Right before he could hit again, I moved away. I snapped at him, trying to sink my teeth into his skin, but he vanished, and I was left staring at nothing. I felt a jolt to the back. It was the staff again. Somehow he had magically appeared right behind me. I heard a growl. It was from Rollins. He tried finishing off the Lycans to come to my aid.
