Chapter 116. Uneasy
Ezra’s POV
Things had been going well with Layla. Being with her felt simple, like breathing, and I couldn’t remember the last time my life had felt this good.
But now something was starting to trouble me.
It wasn’t Layla.
It wasn’t about us.
It was Chloe.
She and Layla were getting close, too close if I was being honest. They go on outings more frequently, they called each other, and laughed over inside jokes.
When I first saw Layla getting close to her, I thought it was great. Chloe had been gone a lot, and maybe this was good for both of them. But the more time they spent together, the more uncomfortable I became.
I was sitting in the living room one evening, waiting for Layla. She went to work in the morning and then went out with Chloe after work. By the time she got home, it was late.
She came through the door smiling, with shopping bags, and her energy filled the room.
“Ezra,” she called out while kicking off
