Chapter 120. Everything Is Just Too Much
Chloe’s POV
After leaving Layla at the restaurant, I headed home to my apartment. My brain was still spinning with all I had gone through and I just wanted to wash the day away.
I tossed my bag on the couch, stripped off my clothes, and entered the bathroom. The warmth of the water against my skin felt amazing, washing away the smell of the restaurant and the tears I had been crying for the past few hours.
By the time I left the bathroom in just my towel, I already felt less heavy. I dressed in my pajamas, brushed my still-wet hair, and went to sleep. After lying there for about an hour staring at the ceiling, my phone rang. It was Mom.
I sighed and answered. “Hello, Mom.”
She sounded tight. “Chloe, what exactly are you doing with Layla?”
I was left speechless. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t treat me like I’m dumb,” she said tightly. “I hear you have been hanging out with her. Tell me straight, how close are you two?”
