Chapter 39
Maya sat down on one of the chairs in the room, staring straight ahead as she took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She ran her fingers through her hair and shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
Turning around to look at her, Estan's expression softened when he saw how distressed she seemed. He put his hand on her shoulder and rubbed it gently. "Are you okay? You don't have to do this if you're not feeling well."
Maya gave him an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry. I just feel so useless here. I can't even read any of these. What am I supposed to do?"
Estan placed his hands on the back of her chair. "Hey, hey. Don't worry about that. We've been through worse than this together already. It'll all work out in the end."
Resting her arm on top of his, Maya replied, "Thanks."
Estan smiled warmly at her. "You're welcome."
