Chapter 44

Outside the cave, Maya witnessed a group of Lycans approaching. Reacting swiftly, she rushed back inside with her brother, using her magic to create a barrier between them and the Lycans. She struck a bargain with the Lycan King, promising to comply with his demands if he spared her and her brother. Reluctantly, he agreed, and Maya knew they had to depart immediately.

Their escape brought a brief moment of relief, but their respite was short-lived. The pursuing Lycans caught up to them, and upon returning to the cave, Maya discovered that one of the Lycans had been injured. She felt a sense of guilt about the harm caused and tended to the wounded Lycan. Urging her brother to flee again, they darted through the forest, only to hear arrows whizzing through the air. Spotting a silver arrow with a ruby tip on the ground, she recognized it as the same kind that had taken her parents' lives.
