Chapter 77. Dissapointed

I lowered my head. I wasn't sure if I should be happy or alarmed. Happy because I had no intentions of marrying this man; I knew deep down that I considered him a friend. Alarmed because this might be one of the reasons we'd grow apart.

I didn't know. The voices in my head were starting again, and it was becoming more difficult for me.

"Mommy," Carl said.

"What? Look, Carl, I am being frank here. I don't feel like Dianne would make a good wife," his mother said.

"Dianna," Carl corrected her.

"Yes, Dianna. I don't feel the mother and daughter bond. You know what I am talking about?"

"Mommy... not now, please. Not in front of the food," Carl pleaded.

I felt embarrassed while looking at my food. This was the first time that I felt degraded. Carl never insulted nor degraded me right from the start and so I am so much disappointed in myself that I expected too much that his parents might be like him.
