Valeria's POV

While I was thinking about my parents and where I come from, I heard footsteps. A grin immediately came to my face because I knew it was Brownie. But this time I didn't run to the bars and stayed sitting on the bed.

As he stood at the bars, he said very dryly, “Why is the reception so subdued today? Otherwise, you're always running and can't wait to see me." Now he laughed, I tried to stay serious, but I didn't succeed.

"Maybe I wanted to test you and see what your reaction was." Now I got up and ran towards him.

"And? Test passed?" Jaden asked with a grin.

"Well, if you have something nice to eat and keep me company... just about." He looked up with relief. "But at 5," I said quickly afterward.

Now he looked at me indignantly and just as I was about to grab the food, he ripped it out of my hands.

"Hey!" He almost screamed.

"That's mine!"

"Not anymore," he said dryly, biting into a peach.
