Chapter 9

Ryeon observed his appearance one last time in the mirror. His hands were sweating, and with each passing second, he felt his body trembling with anxiety as he adjusted his simple clothes as if it were something really important.

He heard the doorbell ring, which awakened him from his thoughts. His heart pounded strongly, causing him to swallow hard and be attentive as he descended the stairs, skipping every two steps to go faster.

He took a few deep breaths when he stood in front of the door before turning the doorknob. He wanted to remain composed, but a smile broke out on his face even before the moment, imagining his girlfriend, whom his body missed so much. However, his smile faded when he saw who was there, smiling back at him with pure scorn.

It was as if his chest received a punch the moment his eyes blinked, causing him to widen his eyes and stagger back in favor.

"Is Roseanne home?" the contemptuous voice sounded in a mocking tone.
