Chapter 22

Lucy had not slept well on the night before the surgery. Her mind was racing, keeping her awake for hours. She could see Ryeon in the bed next to hers; he had chosen to sleep separately to give her space and rest, so she could feel comfortable again. But looking at him so far away, Lucy could only think about getting up and snuggling into the other bed with him.

And without much further ado, that's exactly what she did.

Ryeon grumbled as he was gently pushed to the side, but he opened his eyes and smiled upon seeing her so close.

"Can't sleep?" he asked.

"No, but I have a lot of thoughts."

He moved closer and planted a tight kiss on her lips.

"Does that help a little?"

"A little," she chuckled.

Lucy waited for Ryeon to lie on his back and then lay on his chest. She felt him wrap his arms around her, and that was like a calming balm. Soon, sleep returned to her, even though it was alread
