When Cai’s back vanished through the door, it was like a piece of me left with him. Hands in my lap, I stared down. I didn’t know how long he’d be gone, or how I would keep things together until his return. True love was a fairytale, I’d always believed that. But whatever it was between me and Cai was downright magical. When we’d kissed my world felt good and right. I’m surprised I didn’t hear some angel choir during the experience. It made me want to be with someone I didn’t know at all.

An inner part of me, an ugly one, brought up the question that perplexed me now. How did I know that all these feelings and emotions weren’t because of something like Sergio tried on me? I’d done things with him that made so much sense at the time, but they were wrong in every sense of the word.

A soft knock on the door caught my attention and I looked up. It couldn’t be Jasper, that man didn’t know the first thing about courtesy. Maybe it was that Bre girl again.
