But before she could move her feet, Benedict grabbed her arm. “Where do you think you’re going? Escaping?” he asked.
“Let me go!”
“You are going nowhere but home!” He retorted back.
“Let me go!” Hadley yelled again, trying her best to escape from his grip.
Jethro couldn’t bear to interfere. It was all his fault, after all. “I’m sorry it was my fault. I misunderstood everything. I shouldn’t have told you about this dinner. Doctor Carter is not doing anything wrong!” he spontaneously explained to the angry man as he removed his hand from Hadley’s arm.
Benedict was stunned, and his face grew even hotter at the young man’s interference. He wanted to punch Jethro, but he restrained himself. Instead, he let go of Hadley and smiled at her intern.
“Hey, young man, know your fucking place. Was she being too kind for you to have that kind of courage to defend her?” He said in full sarcasm.
