Hadley couldn’t concentrate on her work because what Benedict said kept coming back to her mind. She put down her pen and stopped writing.
‘The nerve of that man!’ she hissed.
Hadley was correct; talking to Benedict was a bad idea. She couldn’t believe she even begged in front of him.
“What did he say? Live together like a real married couple?’
Hadley sneered and shook her head. ‘How did he come up with that stupid idea?’ she thought. Benedict sounded sincere and appeared to have good intentions, but he didn’t realize he was spitting the words, ‘I’ll bring you to hell’ in her face.
“Doc...”
Hadley almost jumped back in her chair when she heard a voice from her office’s front door; thus, she immediately went back to writing. She lowered her head and pretended she didn’t hear anything.
“Doctor Carter, may I come in?” Jethro knocked again on her door.
“Come on in,” Hadley bluntly replied.
