She wanted to object but couldn’t open her mouth when Benedict’s gaze became profound. His eyes were telling her that she had nothing to worry about. Hadley swallowed her anger as she broke their eye contact. For some inexplicable reason, she believed what his eyes had told her.
“You head in first,” Benedict firmly said.
Hadley nodded and yielded. His commanding words had a different impact this time. She picked up the key and then walked to their door. Before going inside, she saw Benedict and Kathleen enter his car, parked across the street in front of their house.
Hadley was putting her trust in Benedict for the first time. She hoped Benedict wasn’t that irrational to continue his relationship with Kathleen after knowing the whole truth.
