Chapter 3
“So, you’re a werewolf? That’s why we don’t have a clear relationship?” Cassa asked, her eyes filled with tears.
Delbert had nothing else to say except to tell the truth to his ex-girlfriend to avoid any misunderstanding. Since their breakup, their relationship had been strained because Delbert admitted to having another woman who was more beautiful and whom he loved more.
“I’m truly sorry for making you think that I cheated. I never intended to do so. But who would believe that I’m a werewolf?” Delbert asked, his face filled with sadness.
Cassa couldn’t say anything anymore. She didn’t know what to say. The woman thought she was the one with a surprise, but it turned out she was the one who was surprised.
Cassa shook her head, unable to speak when she confirmed that what Delbert was saying was something she had to believe.
“No, you’re lying! I know exactly who you are. Is this your way of pushing me away?” Cassa asked, her painful cries breaking Delbert’s heart.
Delbert sighed deeply, unsure of how to explain to his ex-girlfriend.
“It’s hard to believe that there are werewolves in this world, Cassa. But it’s all true! I am one of them, I am a werewolf!” Delbert said, trying to make Cassa believe what he was saying.
Cassa shook her head again and distanced herself from Delbert, disappointment evident on her face. Cassa slowly stepped back, her heart unable to accept what she had just heard from her ex-lover’s mouth.
“Cassa, forgive me. Tell me, what brings you here? Did Alano hurt you?” Delbert asked, realizing that Cassa must have had a reason for coming to his house.
“No, he loves me very much. I am truly happy after seeing the reality that you are a werewolf. I am grateful that my parents arranged for me to be with Alano, otherwise, things would be so different if I had chosen you,” Cassa said.
Delbert was also shocked by what his ex-girlfriend said. Delbert had no idea that such harsh words would come from the mouth of the beautiful woman he loved so much.
“Oh, I see. I’m glad to hear what you’re saying. I’m glad that he loves you as much as I do,” Delbert said, forcing a bitter smile.
Cassa almost cried again, once again lying about her current feelings. She felt even more uncertain that what she was saying was a truth she could stand by.
In reality, Cassa was not happy at all with someone she didn’t love. But seeing the reality that her ex-lover was a werewolf, Cassa felt it was better to lie.
“I have to go, forgive me for disturbing you, and I’ll keep this secret forever. You don’t have to worry about it,” Cassa said before leaving Delbert’s house.
Delbert sat back on the sofa in his living room. He had no intention of telling anyone. Being a werewolf was not something Delbert could be proud of.
“I should never go there again. Mom and Dad were right not to like Delbert, now I know why,” Cassa said as she quickly walked away from her ex-lover’s house deep in the countryside.
The night made the streets so dark, fear enveloped Cassa. She couldn’t say anything to anyone about her whereabouts.
Cassa didn’t want the police, her family, or her husband to get involved and know where she was. But on the other hand, she was very scared because there were many trees and animals around that could harm her.
“Damn, I shouldn’t have waited for Delbert until tonight!” Cassa exclaimed, now looking terrified in the middle of the forest.
But suddenly, someone grabbed her hand and drew Cassa’s attention.
“I’ll escort you to your car. It’s dangerous to pass through here, there are many werewolves lurking around. Stay by my side until we find a way out,” Delbert whispered.
Throughout the journey, Delbert held Cassa’s hand, and she didn’t resist because she was scared.
“You are also a part of the werewolf, so it seems like I should be wary of you,” Cassa whispered.
Cassa didn’t look at Delbert; she was very unsure of her feelings at the moment. This was an opportunity for Cassa to reveal her pregnancy, but considering that Delbert was a werewolf, Cassa hesitated.
“I don’t like hurting humans. I deliberately moved to the outskirts like this because I don’t want to harm humans,” Delbert said.
Hearing Delbert’s words, Cassa felt a little relieved as she finally knew the reason why Delbert lived in such a spooky place.
“Stop here, my car is there,” Cassa said, pointing to her white car parked on the side of the road.
Delbert let go of Cassa’s hand and let her go. However, the sight of a mark on Cassa’s body startled him.
Delbert couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw faint marks of a child on Cassa’s body. Yes, as a werewolf, Delbert could sense the signs on a normal human’s body.
“Is Cassa pregnant? Why are there marks of a child on her body?” Delbert asked, confused. However, Delbert didn’t stop Cassa from walking away.
In the car, Cassa saw Delbert still watching over her from a distance. In the past, when they were dating, Delbert’s face was something Cassa had eagerly anticipated.
But now, those memories vanished. Cassa had to live a different life from Delbert.
“I’m still not sure about the werewolf myth, but what are those fur all over Delbert’s body?” Cassa asked, still not understanding what was happening.
Cassa sighed deeply, something startled her. Her phone rang loudly, frustrating her.
“Damn, it’s so surprising!”
“Hello, what’s up, Alano?” Cassa asked, answering Alano’s phone call.
“Where are you? Don’t you see what time it is now? You promised to come home early, but once again, you broke your promise. Do you think I’m a pet that should wait for the owner to come home?” Alano, frustrated to see Cassa hadn’t arrived home when he came back from work.
“I’ll be home, sorry for making you wait,” Cassa said, ending the call even though Alano was still angry.
Cassa didn’t care about her husband’s anger at all. Her mind was currently occupied with Delbert and the child she was carrying.
“Open the door!” someone shouted, causing Cassa to flinch, and she almost opened the car door before something happened in front of her eyes.
