Then he held it to him in disbelief. Adham saw them and jumped out of the car while opening the folding knife (a small knife that opens and closes) in Uncle Mahmoud’s face and pulled Rima back and said.
“Stay away from her or I will cut you in two. What do you see? Do you see her alone and having no men?”
The young men had gathered, leaving work, and gathered angrily around him, but Iman stood between Adham and Uncle Mahmoud and shouted at him.
“He is Uncle Mahmoud, her adopted father. Be wise and put the knife down before I break your hand.”
Adham lowered the knife, then wiped his head and said, “Sorry, I thought you were someone who wanted to harm my little sister, and I fear for her, but do not hug her like that. She is like your daughter, not your daughter. Principles are principles, father.”
