Carla's POV 

Tension grips me as I contemplate meeting Mrs. Linn. What if she asks me questions about Carter that I don't have the answers to? I remind myself to stay composed and trust in the façade we've constructed.

 "Thank you for the wonderful conversation. We should get going now. It was a pleasure meeting you, Eugene." I stand up, offering a smile to Eugene and Cara.

 "Likewise, Carla. I hope we can continue our conversation another time. Best of luck with your graduation and everything else." Eugene stands as well, extending his hand to shake mine.

 "Take care, Eugene. It was great catching up with you. We'll keep Carla entertained while you're away." Cara joins in, giving Eugene a warm hug.

 "Oh, I have no doubt about that. Carla is in good hands with you, Cara." Eugene smiles, his eyes flickering with a hint of mischief.
